As a consequence of continuing technical developments, the proceedings of the building industry are going through a fundamental change. It is due to this fact that construction planning has been digitalized almost completely throughout the last decades. With the help of computer based planning instruments and building information modelling (BIM), a method which has become quite well known, it has been possible to decrease working time and effort as well as costs. Open formats for the exchange of data play a major role in this, as they enable a complex and extensive solution that is accessible for everyone. Also the integration of processes of announcement, contracting and accounting into the BIM-method is of growing importance in order to be able to optimize the construction progress in terms of expense budgeting and sequence of operation. In the thesis at hand the BIM-method is defined clearly and its introduction in Germany is outlined concisely. Afterwards the AVA-processes and the legal background shall be explained. A foundation for further analysis is created by the following presentation of the possible ways of realizations of the AVA-processes concerning the BIM-method. Subsequently a data analysis explains the reasons for the avoidance of open interfaces when dealing with the transfer of BIM-data to AVA-software solutions. In conclusion the theoretical results will be put into practice to make them even clearer.
