The dissertation compares the motivational and cognitive effects of different forms of school field trips to science museums systematically and on a theoretical basis. Thereby, the study investigates student’s motivational and cognitive learning outcomes as well as their learning processes according to the different visiting forms. The results highlights museum’s potential to support interest development and knowledge acquisition and identifies important aspects supportive to interest and knowledge development for each visiting form.
