Fiber Bragg Gratings (FBG) can be operated as optical temperature, strain and acceleration sensors. In certain applications, such as in aerospace engineering, fiber-optic measurement systems provide benefits compared to electrical measurement systems. A fiber-optic measurement system has been implemented and tested during a suborbital rocket flight. Furthermore, an interferometric interrogation system for FBG signals, tailored to the requirements of acceleration measurement systems, has been developed.
