The main focus of this thesis is the catalytic conversion of carbon dioxide and epoxides to cyclic carbonates. For this purpose, bifunctional organocatalysts as well as binary systems are explored and the influences of the applied reaction conditions are determined. Furthermore, the industrial important epoxidation of propylene with transition metal catalysts in homogeneous phase is performed. Moreover, supramolecular ion pairs are synthesized, characterized and used as catalyst for the epoxidation of olefins.
