This study investigates the cytoskeleton protein Destrin in the context of perineural invasiveness of pancreatic cancer cells. By a previous method Destrin has been shown to be upregulated in pancreatic adenocarcinoma cancer cells with high nerve invasive potential. The upregulation of Destrin was confirmed by QRT-PCR, immunoblotting and immunohistochemistry. Silencing of Destrin by RNA interference decreased invasiveness, migration and proliferation of Panc-1 pancreatic cancer cells demonstrating Destrin might be related to neural invasiveness of pancreatic cancer cells.
