We conducted a GPU-based genome-wide interaction analysis (GWIA) in order to identify genetic susceptibility factors contributing to dyslexia. Dyslexia is a highly prevalent disorder, characterized by deficits in reading and spelling. We identified genetic interactions affecting susceptibility for altered cognitive skills in affected individuals. Our results show that the etiology of dyslexia is likely based on multi-genetic mechanisms. Thus, we suggest that GWIAs should be shifted further into the focus of investigations, for a better understanding of complex traits and genetics.
