Substantial aspects of electromobility are storing and using energy efficiently. In this regard, lithium-ion batteries based on silicon anodes are of particular interest. The closely related lithium-rich silicides as well as structurally related germanides were investigated comprehensively in the course of this thesis. Besides, borosilicides like the novel high pressure phase LiBSi
2, consisting of a unique network of boron and silicon (denoted as
tum) hosting lithium atoms inside channels, are promising candidates for future battery applications.
