This work deals with the disease "cervical lymph node metastases from cancer of unknown primary ". We investigated, retrospectively, the overall and recurrent free survival (OS, RFS), the local control (LC), as well as, the potential prognostic factors.
Extracapsular spread, Karnofsky Index (60/70 vs. 80/90), resection status (R0 vs. R1/R2) and neck lymph node level (I-III vs. IV-V) were significant prognostic factors in the univariate analysis.
A lower nodal stage (N1/ N2a vs. N2b/ N2c/ N3) was significantly associated with a better OS. An advantage of comprehensive radiotherapy compared with the less aggressive treatment could not be shown.
