The SLC22A3-LPAL2-LPA gene cluster (200 kb) on chromosome 6 is a known risk locus for coronary artery disease and myocardial infarction. Prior studies identified specific risk haplotypes in this region. As a major finding of this thesis, the CCTC haplotype was correlated with the rs3798220-C allele and the CTTG haplotype with the rs10455872-G allele. Thus, two specific nucleotides explained the association of the extended SLC22A3-LPAL2-LPA region and allowed for a more precise definition of risk-associated markers.
