This study looked at blood samples (serum) from cancer patients and their heat shock protein 70 (Hsp70) protein and antibody levels. Hsp70, which in healthy cells is an intracellular occurring protein that fulfills cytoprotective functions, was analyzed via ELISA. Our results show that the serum of cancer patients (bone, ENT, prostate cancers) has increased Hsp70 protein levels compared to healthy donors. Hsp70-specific monitoring may help in future studies as a potential prognostic or therapy guiding biomarker. This opens new perspectives and advance the field of clinical oncology.
