In this study, it was observed by flow cytometry that in patients with acute myocardial infarction after G-CSF administration, the level of circulating progenitor cells increased significantly, whereas the surface expression of LFA-1, VLA-4 and CXCR-4 was reduced. In accordance, mRNA expression of CXCR4 and anti-proliferative Transducer of ERB (TOB) mRNA was decreased.
Decreased expression of adhesion and chemokine receptors on G-CSF mobilized progenitor cells in acute myocardial infarction may alter the homing capacity of circulating cells to the myocardium.
