Research question: A structured evaluation report is demanded which allows an objective assessment of the face using a 3D-laserscanner.
Material and methods: Laserscans of the face are taken and postprocessed with a special software to a 3D-virtual model. Landmaks and aesthetic Regions are defined. For the analysis of symmetry, the model is mirrored in the median plane. 2D- and 3D-analysis is performed on the model.
Results: A structured report, allowing the 3D-assesment of the facial surface for pre- and postoperative chronological process, is generated. By using a laserscan, the method is non- invasive and fast. Facial changes during surgical treatment can be visualized and quantified as exemplarily shown by measurements in three different patients including a trendanalysis.
