In einer geblindeten, randomisierten experimentellen Studie wurde der Effekt von präventiv sowie abortiv durchgeführter Akupunktur auf Allergen-induzierten Juckreiz und assoziierte Hautreaktionen mit dem Effekt von Antihistaminka (Cetirizin) bei 20 erwachsenen Patienten mit atopischem Ekzem in einem cross-over Design verglichen. Sowohl Verumakupunktur als auch Verum-Cetirizin reduzierten Juckreiz im Vergleich zu Placebointerventionen und keiner Intervention, wobei abortiv durchgeführte Akupunktur den besten Effekt hinsichtlich Juckreizreduktion erzielte. Nach Cetirizin-Gabe war die Konzentration im Vergleich zu allen anderen Gruppen signifikant vermindert.     «

Our study evaluated both preventive and abortive acupuncture and antihistamine itch therapy (cetirizine) on allergen-induced itch and skin reactions in 20 adult patients with AD using a blinded, randomized, placebo-controlled, crossover-trial. Both verum-acupuncture and cetirizine significantly reduced itch, compared to both placebo and no-intervention-control. Timing of acupuncture application was important, as abortive verum-acupuncture had the most significant effect on itch. Itch reduction following cetirizine coincided with reduced attention.     «
