The aim of the study was to investigate possible associations between the neuropsychological performance, the theory-of-mind abilities and psychosocial functioning in adult subjects with ADHD (N = 33). In a quasi-experimental design, the results were compared between the test subjects and those of healthy control subjects. Conform to the hypothesis in the ADHD group, numerous neuropsychological deficits were found, particularly of attentional and executive functions. Contrary to expectations, memory skills did not differ from the reference sample. Furthermore, there were no impairments found in the two theory-of-mind tests. As postulated, the theory-of-mind abilities were correlated positively and significantly with the executive functions. In addition, the ADHD group was found to be severely psychopathologically and psychosocially impaired.
