The present manuscript deals with strategies for the immobilization of transition metal complexes on various carrier materials, such as MCM-41 and different polymers. Besides the synthesis of the resulting heterogeneous catalysts, also their characterization and catalytic application in cyclopropanation, polymerization of isobutene or as epoxidation catalysts are described. Furthermore, the synthesis and characterization of new benzonitrile ligated transition-metal complexes bearing weakly coordinating anions is described, as well as their catalytic application in isobutene polymerization. Additionally, the synthesis, characterization and functionalization of new organic-inorganic hybrid nanotubes (which are consisting of alternating silica and ethane, ethylene or acetylene units, respectively) plus a well-grounded IR-study of these materials is presented.
