In fusion research, plasma is heated by microwaves which are generated in gyrotron resonators. In this thesis a mathematical model of an electron beam in a gyrotron resonator is derived and investigated. The model describes the first momenta of the electrons and an electromagnetic wave generated by them within the resonator. The system of initial value problems for the electrons and the boundary value problem for the wave are coupled by an integral term. This system is analysed. Existence, uniqueness, and other properties of the solutions are derived. Two conservation laws were found. The stability of the wave leaving the resonator is investigated. Numerical errors are investigated for two different numerical approaches.
