BACKGROUND: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most prevalent primary liver cancer, accounting for 80-90% of cases. Mutations are commonly found in the signaling regulating the PI3K/Akt pathway, leading to oncogenic cell proliferation and survival.
