This survey analyzes the complex reasons for conflicts in collaboration of industrial designers and engineers in the context of product development. By qualitative interviews developers in the industrial practice were asked for their personal perception of attitude and behavior in cooperation. In addition, findings of psychological research regarding conflicts, diversity in cross-functional teams were transferred to understand conflicts in the regarded area of tense. Based on these findings opportunities for improving the cooperation were developed, mainly in the field of team leadership, process planning and education.
