This paper presents the Munich test bed for connected and automated mobility, an initiative of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) together with the Federal State of Bavaria and the IABG mbh to improve and foster innovative urban mobility. The initiative is based on the construction and permanent operation of a test bed for connected and automated mobility next to the city of Munich, Germany, combining a connected and highly dynamic test intersection with an innovative parking garage all equipped with inductive charging capabilities. This allows for the testing, validation and certification of connected and automated vehicles in a safe and dedicated environment as well as the testing of innovative charging and infrastructure solutions. The focus for the connected and automated mobility lies on the integration, interaction, and communication of and with Vulnerable Road Users (VRU) like pedestrians and cyclists.
