The aim of this work is therefore to develop a detailing concept for BIM-based modelling using the example of solid bridges. This includes the development of the geometry and semantics of a 3D bridge model, whose objects and attributes are then managed in a database. This creates a common framework for the content of a model and quality assurance. In order to develop the concept, the status quo in the infrastructure area was first examined and explained, and the terminology for the detailed concept described. Therefore, different guidelines were presented and existing classification systems as well as the different level of detail were highlighted and analyzed. The problem of the ambivalent meaning of the term LOD was discussed and compared to the German “Modelldetaillierungsgrad”. Furthermore, regarding to the base value of the concept, the additional consideration of use cases and service phases was carried out. An evaluation and comparison of the individual degrees of detail and reference values concludes the fundamental section. The detailing concept was developed from a planning point of view and concentrates on the planning phases as well as on the bridge as an overall object. The semantics are elaborated in an object and attribute list, which increases with the progress of planning. In the practical part, which served to test the concept, the list of objects and attributes was managed in a database. This was carried out on the basis of a project example, which includes the attribution and data transfer of the bridge model for further cost estimation.
