Modular systems enable automotive manufacturers to offer a high number of product variants at a minimum of internal variance. However, the current process for the development of modular systems is complex and time-consuming. Therefore, this thesis focuses on a method and a software tool for the requirement-based and holistic development of modular systems. Core elements of the method are geometric substitute models and dimensional chains. The author illustrates the method using the example of the vehicle front of passenger cars.
