Building Information Modelling is one of the most important issues in the future of the building industry. As buildings are getting more and more sophisticated while simultaneously need to be less expensive cannot be handled with the former techniques and knowledge. The software that approach from such advancement ideas open up a range of innovative opportunities, which lead the way for a new era in planning industries. In the near future the necessity of involving the live cycle of a building into the planning horizon will become very important. As an effect the quality of materials used in building constructions has to be adjusted to the buildings individual demands deriving from its intended living cycle. Scrutinizing the development in that field this bachelor thesis analyses one of the most popular BIM-Software in the current area of professional organisation in house planning. The aim of this thesis should be to examine the functionality of the software „Autodesk Revit Architecture 2015“, by applying the software to the reality layout of the design of the faculty for machine engineering in Garching, Munich. The chief-aim of this modulation is the accurate creation of the auditorium, the main-corridor in the middle and a representative draft of one of the seven building segments called the „fingers“. In addition to that this work proceeds by offering an approach to the design of the main part of the carer-fair, ”IKOM”. In the course of the work on BIM this work also scrutinizes the performance on Autodesk Revit Architecture underlining new features of the 2015 version and evaluates the usefulness of its features for the overall construction planning. Last but not least this bachelor thesis comprises the elaboration of the main differences between the two very important topics of phases and varieties in their function for the Software Autodesk Revit Architecture 2015. This work tries to find an answer if these features are able to lead the way to a new planning era.
