This dissertation describes how a novel process and pilot plant were developed to achieve continuous beer fermentation. Before this process and plant were tested, basic experiments were conducted to achieve comparability studies with batch-processes. Subsequently, a pilot plant, which could operate continuously, was constructed and, in four long-term studies, the pilot plant was tested. Ultimately, the pilot plant produced beer at the desired quality, allowing it to be refined to meet industrial scale.
