The ongoing progress in the electrification of technical processes offers the possibility to provide vital stability and flying qualities of aircraft by the FbW flight control system. Due to their crucial role as controlling element, actuators have to exhibit the highest degree of reliability. Consequently, a novel structure plus innovative layout/tuning method for fault diagnosis systems is proposed allowing a reliable detection and identification of all relevant faults in electro-hydraulic actuators of modern aircraft and hence, yielding a valuable contribution to increase flight safety.
