N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) have emerged as an important class of ligands in organometallic chemistry. Due to the chelating effect, complexes containing bidentate ligands often display enhanced stability. The main focus of this Ph.D. thesis was the synthesis of new (non-)chiral bis-NHC complexes, based on 1,2,4-triazoles and their application in rhodium-catalyzed hydrosilylation of ketones. The thesis contains a detailed study on the influence of different factors on catalysis. Furthermore, a synthetic route for the preparation of the chiral ligands was developed. Thereof derived chiral complexes were investigated as catalysts in various reactions achieving the best results in the hydrogenation reaction of amino acid precursors.
