Two novel heteroleptic Fe(II) complexes Fe-1 and Fe-2 have been designed and synthesized. The electrochemical, steady and transient absorption properties have been carefully studied. Fe-2 exhibits a MLCT lifetime of up to 130 ps. This successful result provides new strategies towards Fe(II) complexes with longer MLCT lifetime. In the second work, a visible light-induced synthesis of medium-ring compounds has been discovered. Two key intermediates in the reaction have been discovered and isolated, leading to a deep understanding of the reaction. A more practical mechanism was thus proposed.
