Natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (NOTES) is a novel, micro invasive surgical technique whereby abdominal operations are performed with a flexible endoscope passed through a natural orifice (mouth, vagina, urethra, anus) thus avoiding any external incisions.
However, this technique requires dedicated, complex instruments, especially to avoid contaminations of the abdominal cavity and furthermore to perform the surgical intervention.
During this thesis the technical preconditions and the required instruments for a novel antireflux procedure, based on a biocompatible ring-like prosthesis, for implantation via the transsigmoidal/transvesical access route were developed.
