Operator models are a form of project financing, where a contractor takes over the function of planning, construction, financing and temporary operation of a fixed asset for a customer. However, novelty, complexity and risk intensity confront contractors with high challenges within the scope of the profitability analysis. The central research objective of this work is the development of a model for a type specific design of the profitability analysis for operator models from the perspective of the contractor. A type specific application of instruments for analysis during the bidding process ensures the profitability of project related decision making. The research approach is characterized by a model based connection of theoretical analysis and empirical findings based on which recommendations for the design of the profitability analysis for different operator models are derived.
