With respect to the urgent demand of the automotive industry to develop high quality software for embedded systems at low costs an optimization process is defined to point out cost-reducing testing strategies for the dynamic quality assurance. The optimization process uses empirical values from previous projects to reduce costs by focusing on early identification of defects, test automatization and project-dependent cost drivers. A cost model is developed to estimate the resulting benefits of the testing strategy which is suggested by the optimization process.
