The operations are often crucial for the success of enterprise transactions. However the operations and their impact on the enterprise value are frequently examined insufficiently during the due diligence. Amongst others this is a reason for the moderate transaction success rate. The due diligence investigation and the participants involved are challenged to consolidate information concerning competition, customers and enterprise within a short time on a hypothesis-based way to entire knowledge and to evaluate the influence on the transaction calculus.
Since a full-extent examination of the operations is only possible with difficulties in the course of due diligence, a branchspreading model, based on theoretical and empirical investigations, was developed which consolidates information to operational investigation types. The model facilitates a practice-relevant typology on the basis of operational focusing and enables by the synthetic evaluation of the expert questioning the deflection of recommendations regarding the content wise and methodical arrangement of the operational due diligence investigation.
