The load capacity for tensile and shear forces at the interfacial area between old and new concrete is of great significance for constructions with precast elements and many repair and strengthening measures. Up to now, the surface roughness of the interface is considered to be the decisive factor of influence. Tests concerning the bond behaviour of high-performance concrete show that comparatively high bond strength can be attained by the addition of admixtures and additives. This effect was investigated within the scope of this thesis, in which, for the first time, the purely empirical approach to the problem of adhesion capacity was replaced by the application of modern calculation and examination methods. The results provide the basis for a more precise prediction of the load-carrying behaviour of structures with concrete overlays and the specific improvement of bond strength.
