Als eine Ursache für die Zunahme von atopischen Erkrankungen wird die zunehmende Umweltbelastung diskutiert. Ziel dieser Arbeit war es, den Zusammenhang von Umweltbelastung und deren Wirkung auf die Freisetzung von Pollen-assoziierten Lipidmediatoren (PALMs) und Allergenen darzustellen. In den Jahren 2002, 2003 und 2004 wurden die Birkenpollenflugsaisonen verschiedener Regionen Deutschlands miteinander verglichen, Umweltbelastung in Form von CO2 und Konzentrationen von PALMs und Allergenen bestimmt. Es lässt sich sagen, dass Birkenpollen aus schadstoffbelasteten städtischen Gebieten verstärkt PALMs freisetzen. Elektronenmikroskopische Bilder haben gezeigt, dass sich Schwebestaub und feinste Partikel auf der Pollenoberfläche in stark umweltbelasteten Gebieten festsetzen.      «

The increasing environment pollution is discussed as a reason of the increase of atopic diseases. Aim of this work was the demonstration of correlation of environment pollution and its effect on release of pollen-associated lipid mediators (PALMs) and allergens from birch pollen. In the years 2002, 2003 und 2004 the seasons of pollen flight of different regions of Germany were compared with each other, environment pollution in terms of CO2 and concentrations of PALMs and allergens were determined. Birch pollen of polluted urban areas release increased PALMs. Electron-microscopical images showed that, airborne particulates and finest particles adhere on the surface of pollen in highly pollutetd areas.      «
