The extension of the internationalization of labour, which is reflected by the ongoing debate on offshoring, is analysed from a sociological point of view. Based on a comprehensive qualitative research new forms of internationalization are explored in the IT-Services and software development sector. Focus of the research is the special perspective of IT-professionals. On the one hand the daily experiences of professionals involved in Off- and Nearshore-projects are systematically taken into account. On the other hand the outcomes of internationalization for the IT-professionals as employees are critically discussed. Particularly questions regarding the consequences of job shiftings for corporate cultures, the “political” answers of the “white-collar” employees on globalization and the dynamics of possible industrial conflicts are addressed.
