The cultivation of grapevine (
Vitis vinifera L.), one of the most important plants cultivated worldwide, is especially threatened by fungal pathogens. An environmentally friendly way of pathogen control is the induction of plant defense metabolites like flavonoids and especially stilbenes, the most important phytoalexins in grapevines. Within the scope of this work, selected genes of the flavonoid and stilbene biosynthesis were cloned, their expression was analysed and the corresponding enzyme activities measured. On this basis it was analysed in various tissues, to what extend the stilbene and flavonoid biosynthesis was beneficially influenced by the plant resistance inductors Milsana® and Myco-Sin®, the growth regulator Prohexadion-Ca and the extract of an epiphytic yeast-like fungus (Aureobasidium). The stilbene biosynthesis was most notably induced by the Aureobasidium extract.
