- Abstract:
- Organizations are challenged to achieve a trade-off between two opposing modes of innovation - exploration and exploitation. To overcome the challenge, organizational members modify and adapt processes and technologies in the form of workarounds to achieve exploratory goals. When workarounds are designed as “Desire Paths”, our research shows that organizations are able to control the evolution of beneficial workarounds.

- Organisationen kämpfen mit der Herausforderung innovative Produkte und Dienste zu liefern – auch bekannt als Exploration und Exploitation. Um diese Herausforderung zu meistern, nutzen Mitarbeiter sogenannte Workarounds, in denen Prozesse und Technologien angepasst werden um explorative Ziele zu erreichen. Auf Basis der Forschungsergebnisse wird gezeigt, dass Workarounds als „Desire Paths“ Organisationen dabei unterstützen die Entwicklung von nützlichen Workarounds zu steuern.
