Increasing dimensions and production volumes of composite parts led to the development of Out-of-Autoclave manufacturing (OoA), a complex process which combines heat transfer, air, resin flow and viscosity development in a consolidating fibrous medium during curing. A multi-physics simulation framework is developed, enabling virtual testing of production cycles and material down-selection. A commercial OoA semipreg is characterized as input for the simulation, while a monolithic demonstrator manufactured from the same material is used for validation purposes.
