Abstract:: This thesis comprises aerodynamic analyses on steady and dynamic stability as well as directional control characteristics of a low-aspect-ratio flying-wing configuration. The investigations are performed based on wind tunnel test data and numerical simulations. The stability and control characteristics are discussed and a relation to the underlying flow-physical phenomena is provided. The directional control characteristics are investigated for a novel outboard split flap.
Translated abstract:: Die Arbeit umfasst aerodynamische Analysen zur stationären und dynamischen Stabilität und zu den Richtungssteuereigenschaften einer Nurflügelkonfiguration kleiner Streckung. Die Analysen werden auf Basis von Windkanaldaten und numerischen Simulationen durchgeführt. Die Stabilitäts- und Steuereigenschaften werden diskutiert und ein Bezug zu den zugrundeliegenden strömungsphysikalischen Phänomenen wird hergestellt. Die Giersteuereigenschaften werden für eine neuartige Spreizklappe untersucht.
