Abstract:
The removal of SO2 from exhaust gas streams is a crucial step for a commercial application of NOx Storage-Reduction Catalyst in automobile industry. For SOx-storage Metal organic framework materials (MOF) complex nanostructured oxides were prepared, characterised and evaluated. BaCl2 impregnated MOF materials and nanostructured complex metal oxides showed the most promising storage properties. The reaction at the surface and the transport in the bulk phase was investigated by in situ IR and X-rayabsorptionspectroscopy applying modern chemometric methods. The best materials were able to bind SOx strongly on the surface with an additional fast transport into the bulk phase. Noblemetalfree sorbents showed especially under cycling oxidizing and reducing conditions a strongly enhanced performance compared to the Pt containing samples.
