This systematic review based on Cochrane criteria examines the use of second-generation-antipsychotics added to common therapy of patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder versus placebo. Eleven studies with 396 participants could be evaluated in the metaanalysis. Olanzapine, Quetiapin and Risperidone were used as medication. In summary this intervention showed up superior to placebo and therefore represents a treatment option particularly in therapy-resistant patients. However, due to increased side effects there must be a benefit-risk-consideration.
