The aim of the present study is to validate a German-language questionnaire to assess the spiritual care competence of students and trainees in health professions. For this purpose, students and trainees in three German-speaking countries were included in the survey. The explorative factor analysis led to a model with five factors. For internal consistency of the model, Cronbach's alpha ranged from 0.58 to 0.85. A confirmatory factor analysis using the maximum likelihood estimator confirmed a good model fit. Based on the results, spiritual care competencies can be identified and defined more specifically . The SCCQ-s could be used for further teaching development in the field of spiritual care.
