Advances in biophysics and medicine rely on interdisciplinary insight from the entire human organism down to single biomolecules. To study biomolecules beyond experimental resolution limits, molecular dynamics (MD) simulations combine all-atom spatial resolution with femtosecond-level time resolution. In this thesis, MD simulations are applied to amyloid formation and anti-amyloid drug design in Alzheimer’s disease and to photoswitchable peptides in the context of photopharmacology.
