Gut microbiota- lipid interactions are linked to metabolic diseases and cancer, which have increasing global numbers. The present study investigated cholesterol gut microbiota interactions in different physiological settings with relevance to obesity and colorectal cancer. Using stable isotope labelling – mass spectrometry combined with tumor transcriptomics gut microbial signatures and metabolites promoting obesity and modulating tumorigenesis in the respective experimental models were identified.
