The interrelationships between different degrees of weight loss over four years and MRI-based measurements of T2 relaxation time, cartilage thickness and T2 grey level co-occurrence matrix texture parameters in knee cartilage were examined using 320 subjects of the Osteoarthritis Initiative (OAI). Furthermore, the associations between weight loss and knee osteoarthritis symptom severity as well as between texture parameters at baseline and osteoarthritis symptom severity after four years were analyzed.
