Die Kapselendoskopie kommt zur Detektion von Blutungsquellen im Gastrointestinaltrakt bisher vorwiegend nach negativer Gastroskopie und Koloskopie zum Einsatz. Diese Arbeit untersuchte, ob Patienten mit schwerer akuter GI-Blutung ohne Zeichen einer Ursache im unteren GI-Trakt von einer direkt nach negativer Gastroskopie durchgeführten Kapselendoskopie profitieren können. Es zeigte sich, dass die vorgezogene Kapselendoskopie in 17/20 Fällen das therapeutische Prozedere richtig beeinflusste und insbesondere bei mittlerer GI-Blutung eine Beschleunigung der Diagnosestellung erlaubte.     «

Video capsule endoscopy is currently used to detect the source of gastrointestinal bleeding after negative upper and lower endoscopy. This study evaluated whether patients with severe acute gastrointestinal bleeding without signs of a cause in the lower gastrointestinal tract could benefit from a capsule endoscopy performed directly after negative gastroscopy. It was shown that early capsule endoscopy guided further therapeutic procedures correctly in 17/20 cases. Furthermore especially mid-GI-bleeding could be diagnosed faster.     «
