The aim of this dissertation was the development of a serological test for the detection of immunglobulin G (IgG) antibody responses against the whole Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) proteome in the blood plasma of patients (n = 101) of the „Infectious Mononucleosis in Munich“ study (IMMUC). The EBV proteins used in the fluorescence-based dot-blot immunoassay were expressed in HEK293T cells and purified as full length proteins. To identify serological biomarkers predictive of severe or protracted infectious mononucleosis, the patients’ antibody responses were correlated with clinical data.
