Abstract:

Translated abstract:
In order to find the position and shape of the thoracic wall based on 3D body-surface scans the breasts of these virtual models were removed. The resulting holes in the polygon mesh were then closed and altered until the best approximation to the anatomically correct thoracic wall recreated from MRI data was achieved. The method was validated using preoperative surface scans of women into which the implant measurements where virtually placed and which where then compared to postoperative scan data.
