FLT3-ITD+ AML is associated with a particularly bad overall survival. We identified the chaperone pS305-SGTA whose phosphorylation was significantly higher in FLT3-ITD+ MV4-11 and in primary FLT3-ITD+ AML cells when treated with Sorafenib and co-cultured on EL08-1D2 stroma cells, indicating that phosphorylation of this protein might contribute to resistance of FLT3-ITD+ leukemic stem cells (LSCs). This strongly suggests pS305-SGTA as a potential target for definitive eradication of FLT3-ITD+ LSCs.
