Kurzfassung:
In this thesis imaging modalities are used to target atherosclerosis in a mouse model. Fluorescence molecular tomography combined with X-ray computed tomography was applied for detection of early atherosclerotic lesions by targeting elastase activity. A magnetic resonance imaging contrast agent was employed to investigate quantification of atherosclerotic lesion size in vivo and ex vivo. Additionally, imaging modalities were implemented into the workflow to create a realistic three-dimensional reconstruction of the murine aortic arch based on serial histological sections.
