This retrospective study bases on deliveries from 2013 to 2014. It seems that opioids and epidural (PDA) analgesia might influence fANS during birth and after application at least for a short term. Evidence of slightly decreased arterial pH values was found in all analgetic groups, whereas pH values remained in the lower physiological threshold. Parturients with patient-controlled intravenous analgesia with remifentanil (PCA) and PDA showed a prolonged second stage of labor compared with controls. PCA without opioid application seems to be most similar to “natural births”.
