Translated abstract:
In this study, we compared patients who underwent an isolated mitralvalve surgery through a right minithoracotomy or a median sternotomy. A statistical analysis named propensity score was performed. The minimally invasive approach is a safe procedure and related to a low rate for reoperations. A good outcome for the reconstruction of the valve was shown in the follow-up, a better cosmetic result and a low rate of mortality. Patients with a minithoracotomy recovered faster and the pain after surgery disappeared faster. The minimally invasive approach through a right minithoracotomy regarding the isolated mitral valve surgery is performed routinely at our hospital.
